Appearance
Basic Overall Physical Description: When not living in a mortal body he can take on the form of whatever will most make a person, being of passing life, more comfortable. When he's in a formal female form he calls himself Muerte, who has pale skin and jet black hair. He rarely goes about as a skeleton now, as his individual reapers tend to take on that form. His body, Videl, was a cancer patient who tried to live his best life. He's a bit scruffy looking, pale skinned, dark haired and dark green eyes. He's kind looking, and has a face that knows what smiles are.
Height: Five foot nine
Eyes: dark green almost brown, Red when reaping
Hair: Brown
Face & Complexion: Light skinned, bone white when not human.
Dress Style: Casual and comfortable. Jeans with a blazer, slacks and a button up shirt with vest. He has a bit of that vintage hipster look to him. It's a leftover style from Videl.
Possessions always on this person: A pocket watch. It's a special watch that alerts him to the deaths of a list of important people, or those near by him. To look into the watch will tell a person when they will die. He doesn't allow people to look.
Health
Eyesight: Sharp. Very sharp.
Hearing: Nearly perfect and then some.
Left/Right/Ambi: Right handed but can use his left for small things.
Disabilities/Handicaps: He can't do a lot of the things he could inside this mortal body. He has to put it down and go to a natural form in order to preform some tasks.
Personality
Goals/Dreams: Death does not dream. His goals are simple: Figure out what is wrong with this Virginia girl and fix life itself.
Quirks/Habits: He taps his fingers often, drumming them on things, not in a way that shows impatience, but just because he likes the beat.
General Likes: Chocolate. Humans are so interesting in the things they can make.
General Dislikes: When plans fail or when the Divine intervene with out telling him something. If Life has a plan They should tell him.
First Impression: A nice young man, if a bit scruffy.
Philosophy of Life: Life is a pain in his ass--oh you meant "life", right. He thinks it's important, of course, and it's needed for him to do his job. He's learning that there is more to it than just living though.
Personality In General: Death is a nice guy. One might think he was a terrible being by his general appearance as a Reaper, but it's not true. He has a sense of humor and a sense of respect for beings who still hold their lives, but he also has a sense of duty and a need for order. There is a plan, and that plan should be followed. The plan is simple. Life gives and Death takes. There is always a timeline for these things for every living thing. There is always something to each life given that must be done before he steps in to take them away. When that plan is broken it annoys him, like with the case of Virginia. She has died several times now and each time, just before he could Reap her, she was given life back to her body. It bothers him greatly. Because of this he has gone to the extent of taking a mortal form and trying to figure this girl out.
Besides feeling wronged by Life for this Virginia girl's case, he is empathetic. He doesn't mourn the loss of a life, as he does understand why they re being taken, but sometimes when reaping children he feels it's unfair to remove them from the plan so soon. He knows why its done but it feels unfair to him sometimes. Not that he'd say that out loud. He keeps those kind of feelings close to his chest, keeping unbiased to it. He's generally pretty good about staying unbiased to a death.
Once around the Black Plague he had to split his Endless form into smaller mini reapers to manage to do the job properly. Thus he doesn't have to be there for every death, as he is there in other smaller forms. That leaves him free to take a mortal form and still have his job be taken care of. Because of this he feels he can do his job better and still investigate what the hell is going on with this one girl. He holds a pocket watch that allows him to know when he personally is needed some place else and does his job when needed. He will always do his job. He is very much a stickler when it comes to his job.
As a human he has to be careful not to lose his body. He once met a young man with cancer in a hospital who lived his life to the fullest. Videl, a very good young man who did all he could before he died. Death asked if he would mind his body being used a bit longer. There was no way to stop the death, and he would be welcomed to the afterlife, but could he use his body. The man agreed and since then Death has taken it all across the world, traveling with Virginia, trying to figure her out. He treats this body as if it were his own, taking care of it. After all the man who lived in it before was a very good man. Death respects that greatly and would do what he can to make this cancerous body last.
When faced with tough situations he does what he can to get through them. Clearly Life has thrown this at the people he's around and so there is a plan. He tries not to interfere as best he can. There are times however, that he has stepped in to try and help. The longer he's in this body the more he's likely to pitch in and try to help save a life. Which annoys him at the end of the day because he isn't meant to do that (or is he? The Divine are strange that way).
Background/History
Character's History: Once there was Life. Life created all manner of living things. Plant's creatures and so on. Long before humans were created, there was a need for Death. A circle of Life, as was often said, ended in Death. So death was created to help that circle continue.
Through out human history, Death has been a constant. No matter who it is, there has always been Death at the end of their Life. Reaping with out bias, knowing there was a plan. It's just how Earth was run.
Some time around the Black Plague, with so many deaths going constantly at once, he broke himself down into smaller reapers, splitting his form in order to continue with his job as best as possible. It made it easier. Why didn't he think to do that back in all those wars? Because of this, no matter what happens, Death continues marching on.
The history of Death can be tracks along at the end of every life, so there is no point in writing it all out now, or we would be here forever. There is, however, some cases of people outsmarting death once in a while. Like Rasputin, where it took so much effort to finally make his death date, or, in his current case, Virginia Walker, a mysterious young woman who seems to be cheating Death every time he turned around.
Virginia is a young woman who seems to find herself in many terrible life events. She lived her life wandering from place to place. Herr original death date was at age 12 when her abusive father had a drunken fit and killed her on mistake. The original Divine Plan was to set this mans life right by the death of his daughter, but when the girl fell and broke her neck, dying on the spot, Death came to get her only to lose her at the same moment. Her life returned to her and she was rushed to the hospital. The Father reformed, for a bit, but not long enough, and the girl was hurt again, over and over. It bothered Death to watch her go through this when he knew her time was over.
As the girl aged she was faced with so many events that were trying to correct the Plan. She died 9 times before the age of 21. Each and every time she was brought back to life some how, far beyond Deaths plans. When Death looks into his watch for Virginia It shows a death date, then Jumps to another date, and another, and another. It never stays still.
He now travels with the girl, trying to find out why she was so special. He knows Death is still happening and being taken care of, as his split forms are still out there, so it's like Death has taken a vacation to travel the earth, but still doing his job.
